There Must Be a Simple Explanation - Not Always, But Usually

Expert Author Lance WinslowThe other day, I was discussing conspiracy theories with an online acquaintance as we both noticed quite a few world events all coming to fruition at the same time, enough chaos to make anything that might occur unpredictable to an observer, but certainly not any major powers pushing the chaos off the proverbial cliff. The question then became what will happen and on what date? Who will be the players involved and what will be the outcome. In hindsight it will be easy to see, but not so easy the prior.
My acquaintance stated that he was able to sift through the complexity and come up with the most obvious explanation and prediction and noted it was usually the simplest one that turns out to be correct. Yes, well, he is certainly correct, in hindsight, yes, it usually is the simplest answer.
Now then, with regards to SIMPLICITY as the key, yes, usually that is Ockham's Razor (Occam's Razor) "lex parsimoniae" which reminds us that it usually is the simplest explanation that turns out to be the answer. And yet, sometimes those who deceive use elaborate schemes to hide their deeds, using a string of non-simple stories, unverifiable, with loose ends mostly cut to propose a seemingly simple thing which happened under extremely contrived circumstances.
This causes those who think to say; "Hmm, that doesn't sound right, let's look into this further," because the pattern of simplicity doesn't fit exactly right, and their minds try to make sense of broken patterns, hence our inquiry here. Of course, anyone uncovering such a plot, plan or in hindsight calling it what it is must be silenced or called crazy to perpetuate the lie and cover-up.
So, I agree, simplicity as per Isaac Asimov and Philosopher William Ockham is correct 90% of the time in nature and events, still intricate strategies are often put forth by humans to conceal motive and action.
Philosophically speaking of course, right? Now then, you as the ready perhaps agree and yet, can also think of explanations to events which did not follow the rule, which would be the remaining 10% right?
Also consider that simplicity breeds complexity and nothing simple become complex quicker than a lie perpetuated onto the masses, reminding us of yet another famous quote:
"You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time," Abraham Lincoln.
Of course, there is another popular quote online;
"Abraham Lincoln once said you can believe everything you read on the Internet."
Have a nice day.
