5 Reasons Why Product Design Requires 3D Modeling

Product designing is an integral phase of any industry. In this phase, designers get to represent their spectacular ideas to the prospective clients and manufacturers. Helping designers in this phase is state-of-the-art method popularly known as 3D modeling. Thanks to the proliferation of animation industry, designers now have multifunctional tools at their disposal that help them to present their designs in a vivid way. Showcasing your products in 3D forms can turn out to be absolutely stunning.
However, if this reason is not good enough for you, then here are five strong reasons that clarify why product designing is in dire need of 3D modeling.
#1 Create Rapid Prototypes
Creating rapid prototypes of products becomes easy with 3D modeling. Often 3D models prove to be beneficial to evaluate certain crucial factors including product details, its manufacturing costs, and designing concept. 3D models of product prototypes can be created either from a handmade drawing or even from a 2D sketch. However, leverage of 3D modeling lies in its ability in allowing designers to create and refine their designs without much hassle.
#2 Get 360-Degree View
The convenience of demonstrating a model from different angles is a huge leverage for designers. This is another perk of 3D modeling. Viewing the product from different angles not only allows people to notice the smallest details but also gives them a fair idea about its production and packaging. The three dimensional 360-degree view turns out to be pretty useful in all stages of production. Users can zoom in on the product and can get better visual expressions of the same; an advantage clearly not found in 2D sketches.
#3 Gripping Animation
A well-animated product will not only ensure success for your marketing campaign but will also help to give your customers a clear-cut idea about its working. Attention-grabbing animation can actually help you to go a long way and with 3D modeling, you can get to show your clients how your product functions.
#4 Perfect Marketing Material
3D models act as perfect marketing materials. Since they are photo-realistic, they can be easily fitted into presentations and commercials. Effective promotion of products can help companies to gain credibility from their customers and with production-ready models that would come easy. Most real-estate companies have already taken advantage of 3D content for promoting their sales.
#5 Precise Specifications
With the help of modern 3D modeling software, designers can now demonstrate the size, shape and other specifications in context to the real product. This almost real scaling of the products allows companies to give nearly-perfect overview of how the finished goods will be to the prospective customers.
Summing Up
3D Product Modeling and rendering has already turned out to be excellent tools for showcasing products and their designs. But, to design products with perfection would require skills and of course, hands-on experience. Hence, it is better to go for pros of the industry and hire services of a renowned animation studio.

Chest, Middle, and Head Voice - What Are They?

Print Article
Expert Author Chuck L StewartI was not born with a perfectly functioning singing voice. I had no problems in chest voice or in the lower part middle voice, just above chest voice. I had a very distinct and annoying crack, which kept me from singing opera, popular, Broadway and R&B songs until I was trained. I have helped singers to no longer crack and also to help prevent vocal nodules (calluses of the vocal folds). Nodules can be painful or without pain. They result in constant hoarseness and diminished vocal range. Most people need training to gain control over the voice. A very few are born with it, perhaps 1%. I am not ashamed to have studied, because the results opened up a whole new world to me, which includes having sung professionally in Las Vegas.
Let's clarify some terms to start on the road to understanding more about the singing voice.
Chest voice, middle voice, and head voice are vocal registers, or ranges. Many people think that chest voice is a type of sound and that head voice is a type of sound. Many people don't fully understand middle voice at all. It is a never-neverland or fantasy world. Middle voice is thought to be a place that is hard or impossible to get to. It is also called: mix or bridge or passaggio. Passaggio is an Italian word, meaning passage way.
What is chest voice? Chest voice is the range in which you can feel vibration in your chest when you sing in that range. The reason is that the sound waves are larger in chest voice and they resonate in your chest, the size of which approximates the sound waves, pitch-wise. Have you ever been in a hallway or room and found a tone which loudly resonates with your voice? There will be one specific tone which will do this. Your chest will vibrate when you are in chest voice and that is how it got its name. Unless you are singing with a breathy tone, chest voice will be a full sound, which can be produced loudly when needed. This is called full voice.
Full voice is often confused with chest voice. They are not the same thing. Full voice is achieved when the vibrating vocal folds are in close proximity, to the extent that the tone is full, rather than weak or breathy. When the vocal folds are not vibrating in close proximity, excess air escapes and can be heard mixed in with the tone. It is not necessarily wrong to sing with a breathy tone, for effect when stylistically or emotionally appropriate. The breathy tone production does have the potential of causing dryness to the vocal folds (vocal cords, as they used to be called). The "lubrication" of the vocal folds is done by mucous secreting glands. It can become irritating to the delicate tissue, if it dries out.
Head voice is called head voice because your head vibrates when you are in the higher notes of head voice. In a properly trained and developed voice, the tone can be full and powerful, just as in chest voice. It can be called full voice in head or full head voice. It is not a breathy sound. When working properly, a singer can sustain a high note and crescendo from very soft to very loud, without a change in the sound of the tone. If there is a sudden change in the sound of the tone, that is what singers call a break or a crack. Things do not actually crack or break in the sense of the vocal apparatus but instead, the singer and listener hear an abrupt distinct change in the tone quality.
The hardest thing for many singers, including some professional singers, is to smoothly execute the tones throughout the entire vocal range. Most untrained singers have difficulty singing passages which extend from chest voice to head voice. Singers whose voices crack or break when transitioning from chest voice to head voice (or vice-versa) are actually experiencing a brief and sudden loss of adduction of the vocal folds. They "pop" open and then close again. Some singers will yell or scream out high notes but over time that can and has caused injury. There must be a coordination of adduction in such a way as to not hyper-adduct the vocal folds. It is a balancing act. It is the correct amount of pressure sufficient to achieve the desired tone quality. Most people need training to gain control over the voice. A very few are born with it, perhaps 1%.

The Best Magic Trick With Cards For Beginners

Expert Author Luke BostonHands down, the single best magic trick with cards that you should practice at the beginning of your journey is called the D.L. For sake of secrecy, I will give you the abbreviation only -- in reality, it is two words, but if you know the move already, you know exactly what I'm referring to.
The D.L. is less of a magic trick, and more of a utility move that should be used to achieve the intermediate and advanced tricks.
When we begin learning how to do magic, we will get our friends and family members (hello uncle Gary) showing us how to do card tricks. Does this sound familiar? "Now, count down 12 cards in four equal piles, then put the rest of the cards aside."
You see, most household magic tricks are a variation of math tricks. There are some great math-based card tricks out there (in fact, most of them are great, but the four that everybody knows are absolutely horrible.)
What you really need to begin working on is manipulating a deck of cards. There are numerous ways that magicians do that. False shuffles, false cuts, forces, palms, keys, controls, passes, and the almighty D.L.
The D.L. is described simply as turning two cards over as one. Sounds easy, right? The key to doing this, however, is finding the technique that not only feels natural, but looks natural as well. You don't want to give away when you're turning over two cards vs just turning over one.
Here are the steps of my favorite one. I affectionately call this method the "Dead Lift" because I love working out, and you literally lift the cards with absolutely no set up -- they're just dead squared on the deck.
Step #1. The hand position.
You should already be efficient at the dealer grip. I explain how to do it all the time, but for sake of explanation, I will reiterate it here:
Holding the deck face down in your hand, your index finger should be curled around the bottom corner, away from your thumb. Your other three fingers should be on the furthest side, and your thumb should be resting on the closest side, lying across the edge of the deck.
This will ensure that you have the best grip possible. The cards won't accidentally slip out of your hand, and you're not holding it so tight it feels unnatural.
Step #2. The edge.
Put your thumb on the top of the deck, firmly. You want to put your thumb slightly across the top, so that the top cards and ones below it protrude, and work their way in as you get closer to the bottom of the deck.
Step #3. Feel with the pad of your index finger.
Feel the side with the padding of your index finger. You're looking for the top two cards. This is a knack that takes time to get good at before you can do it efficiently each time.
Step #4. The pinch and turn.
Finally, when you feel that you have two, pinch the top card with the thumb, bottom card with the finger, and turn the cards over as one. You can ensure evenness by dragging it across the "top" of the deck (actually the third card down).
Voila! If you've done it correctly, two cards should be face up on the face-down deck.
Once you've mastered this move, you will be opened up to a million possibilities!
If you would like to learn more about the D.L. and master the tricks that include it, visit http://www.learneasymagictricks.com NOW and join the mailing list! It's absolutely free, and you will learn hundreds of magic tricks with cards!

How to Make a Multi-Part Mold

Expert Author Aarron BarryThere are various methods of making a mold to reproduce an object - from the simple glove, blanket and one-part molds to injection molds and the complex two-part or even multi-part molds.
A multi-part mold is an advanced process for duplicating a complicated model that has intricate shapes, sides and undercuts. As none of the sides are flat, a one-part mold is not feasible. The mold has to actually be made in parts with two or more installments to ensure that all the details are properly captured and can be reproduced. This is why each part of the mold should have appropriate 'keys' so that they can precisely join when put together for the casting process.
Multi-part molds can be made from various materials - such as plaster, silicone rubber, polyurethanes or latex - just like their one-part counterparts.
Procedure explained:
As the name goes, making a multi-part mold is a complex process that requires infinite care, patience and experience to get it right. One of the most important steps is right at the beginning where you have to draw parting lines all around the model to define where the different parts of the mold will meet to form a whole.
Place the model on one side and portion it off along the demarcating line by covering one side entirely with clay. The clay border should be made level with the parting line and should fill all gaps and cracks before being smoothed out properly. Then make the keys either as a depression (with a coin) or a raised surface (with say, acorn nuts).
Now move to making a tall mold box along the perimeter of the model and seal it properly so that the mold making material will not flow out. Provide sufficient airways so that the trapped air can escape easily from the mold.
Once done, you are ready to mix and pour the mold making plaster, polyurethanes or silicone. Do not forget to provide a generous coating of an appropriate release agent to allow for easy remolding.
Allow the mold to set properly before removing the clay edging from the model. Flip the model over and repeat the process of making a mold box once again. Apply the release agent before pouring the mold making material once more. Repeat again if you are making three or more mold parts.
Carefully separate the different parts of the mold to reveal the original model. You need to cut out a big hole at one appropriate end of the mold to provide an opening where the casting material can be poured in later on.
Join the parts of the mold again along the keys and secure them properly (use mold straps) before moving to the casting process. Once done and finished properly, you will have a beautiful casting that is an exact replica of the original model that you started out with. Multiple casts can be successfully made in this manner.
The author, Aarron Barry is an enthusiastic writer who loves writing on creativity, art likes topic and attention the detail. Through this article he shared his valuable information on mold making, polyurethanes or resin casting. Want to know more about those topics, visit the website.

Decorating in Style With Glass

Expert Author Jay HatfieldDecorative items like home goods and jewelry have made a shift towards compositions requiring skilled laborers and artists, with fused glass making a tremendous impact in the market today. Even though glass fusing has been around since 2000 BC and has been used in decorative adornments since then, it's only been recently that our culture has truly started demanding more of this artwork. Over the years, many techniques have surfaced in the creation of fused glass art, giving way to a wide range of beautiful and intriguing results.
To create fused glass, a skilled craftsman must place glass within a kiln at temperatures ranging from 1,099 degrees Fahrenheit to 1,501 degrees Fahrenheit. The techniques used to fuse the glass generally fall within three categories and give the craftsman a host of options when creating their artwork.
The first of these techniques is called 'slumping'. By utilizing the lower ranges of temperatures required to fuse glass (1100º to 1250º F), the glass softens and bends over the contours of whatever is underneath of it. The temperature determines how much of a curve the glass is allowed to follow, with more heat imparting a more elastic nature to the glass and allowing for more compound curves. The kiln master can either utilize a mould wherein the glass slumps under its own weight to create the shaped end result or the free fall slumping technique, where the moulds for this type of slumping are composed of a ring that allows the glass to fall through the opening in the center, which in turn forms a bowl.
The second technique known as 'tack fusing' uses temperatures in the mid-range of 1250º-1350ºF. For tack fusing, multiple pieces of glass can be fused together without having to heat up the whole item to a point that it changes shape. The smaller items heat up quicker than the carrier piece, which allows brief increases in temperature.
The third technique is called 'full fusing', and this requires the highest of glass fusing temperatures between 1350º-1500ºF. As one would expect, the entire piece of glass and any additional smaller pieces added to the piece are melted into one clean piece. Small pieces added to the surface of the main piece are actually absorbed by the main piece and melted into one smooth surface.
By using one of these three glass fusing methods, a kiln master has the ability to create a multitude of fused glass products. From beads to tiles to wall art and even bowls, a skilled craftsman can fuse glass into a truly unique work of art. At Hatfield Copper Decor, we've taken this art to the next level by making many of our fused glass pieces pragmatic as well as beautiful. Our fused glass clocks are one-of-a-kind, and our swirl dishes can turn a bland table setup into a sophisticated display.

Benefits of 2D Animation

Since the 1990s, 3D animation has enjoyed an explosion in popularity. Nowadays, major
motion pictures around the world use its techniques to create lifelike images that allow the viewer to feel as if they are part of the animated world being depicted on the screen. Despite the advantages and popularity of 3D animation, however, traditional animation in the form of 2D animation and elsewhere is still playing a central role in the world of animation. Since its advent in the early 1900s, it has provided a slew of benefits to animated projects. Following are just a few of the many advantages that 2D animation provides.
Efficiency
One benefit of 2D animation is the efficiency with which it can be produced. Animation by its very nature is never a simple process. As an art form, it requires a great deal of skill and creativity to produce objects, characters, and worlds that appeal to the target audiences and that accurately convey stories and messages. In addition, the numerous techniques and styles that have developed throughout the past century provide an array of tools from which the animator can choose.
However, while 2D animation demands as much skill as does 3D animation, it is generally faster to create simply because it does not require a third dimension. 2D animation companies do not need to create lifelike images the way that 3D animators do. Their cityscapes, for instance, do not need to consist of buildings with details that make them look like real buildings. This faster design can be beneficial to those who need a project completed in a timely manner.
Simplicity
A second benefit of 2D animation is the fact that its designs tend to be less complex than those provided by 3D animation. How beneficial a simpler design is depends upon the project. For instance, action films usually benefit from 3D animation because of the detailed action and complex images they use to draw the viewer in.
However, when the design needs to highlight the message, the services of a 2D animation studio are usually preferable. For instance, a clean design is often more effective in advertising, because it more clearly conveys the advertiser's message to the viewer. Certain games, such as Candy Crush, also depend upon a simpler design to appeal to their audiences. Some television shows, such as South Park, have built their success on a 2D animated design. Even some educational applications or explainer videos require a design that will not distract the viewers from the message that the project is trying to convey.
Cost effectiveness
The efficiency and simplicity of 2D animation lead to greater cost effectiveness, another boon to people who want the benefits of animation but who cannot afford the sometime steep price tag that accompanies 3D animation. The fact that this type of animation takes less time and is less complex means that it can be accomplished with fewer resources, savings that often translate into a smaller price tag. In fact, many projects utilize 2D instead of 3D animation at least in part because it is more cost effective for tight budgets and small companies. Any provider of 2D animation should be able to work with your budget to create a project that meets not only your creative needs but also your financial constraints.
Artistic freedom
Each type of animation brings with it numerous creative possibilities. However, 3D animation must always appear lifelike and realistic, no matter what scene, objects, or people it is depicting. As a result, the fanciful and exaggerated generally do not translate well to the 3D screen, and styles such as anime are more difficult to create through the use of 3D tools.
2D animation, on the other hand, makes entirely new worlds possible. For instance, through traditional animation, the animator can create people, animated cartoons, and more that do not exist in real life. As a result, anyone needing an animated project can use 2D animation to more easily create images and worlds that would otherwise be very hard to film and/or create using 3D tools. This aspect of 2D animation also lends itself well to creating projects targeted to specific audiences. Not only can the animator use their imaginations to create characters and worlds that are not lifelike or realistic, but, by doing so, they can engage in character design and other practices that result in projects tailored to the sensibilities of specific audiences.
Because of the artistic freedom that 2D animation provides, this type of animation requires a high level of talent that makes the animator as skilled as anyone working on a 3D project. The animator must use their creativity and knowledge of the art form to develop characters and worlds that meet the needs of the project, instead of focusing simply on creating as lifelike images as possible. From concept design to character design to storyboards, they must utilize their expertise to create exactly the type of project being envisioned and the goals that are in place for the project.
Choosing 2D animation for your animated project does not mean that you are limiting your choices. Instead, its efficiency, simplicity, cost effectiveness, and the artistic freedom that allows the animator to bring your idea to life provide you with advantages that in many cases make it a better choice than 3D animation for successfully completing your animated project.
Powerhouse Animation is a traditional 2D animation studio based in Austin, Texas with offices in Burbank, California. Since 2001, Powerhouse has been making ideas come to life through animation, illustration, and motion graphics. With a staff of 35 in-house artists, animators, videographers and designers, Powerhouse works on a wide variety of projects and has created animation for companies including Disney, Sony, Marvel, DC, Old Spice, Miramax, the USO and more. 3 Factors To Consider When Buying A Waterproof Digital Camera

Are you planning on buying a waterproof digital camera? There are three major things that
you should consider: features, budget, size and weight.
Features
There are many features that you should consider when making the purchase:
Housing: housing ensures that your camera is fully sealed thus water can't get in. The type of housing varies from one camera model to the next. For example, a point and shoot camera has one housing while a DSLR camera has multiple housing options.
In addition to the housing, you also need to consider how easy it is to operate the camera. As rule of thumb you should ensure that you are able to perfectly use the controls when the housing is on.
Manual white balance: this feature is important when you are planning of shooting without strobes. Due to the water properties, images that you take using natural light will appear blue. To remove the color cast you should go for a camera with a manual white balance.
Lenses: lenses are important when taking wide angle or closer macro images. If you are using point and shoot camera you should go a housing that will enable you install the different lenses. Why Glass Fused Art Is Prestigious

Expert Author Jay HatfieldAt temperatures over 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit, artists are able to forge truly unique pieces of fused glass jewelry and decor. Around the world, fused glass art is recognized for its evocative beauty and frozen movements. There are many forms of glass art that require different skill sets, and kiln masters must spend countless hours of trial and error perfecting their education in any given type of glass-making.
Fused glass is created through the process of placing two or more shards of colored glass into a kiln to be melted until they're fused together to create a final, one-of-a-kind product. While learning how to fuse glass correctly is very difficult, the true mastery comes in the ability for a master kiln operator to combine shards of glass in a way that produces interesting, evocative, and timeless results. The possibilities for kiln artists who master the technique of fused glass are endless, and the results are as equally beautiful as they are engaging.
This art is a prestigious study for any kiln master to learn. Around the world, artists gather to showcase their fused glass creations at the awe and wonder of all attendees. Likewise, people from every country have always been astounded at the simplistic beauty of glass jewelry and decor. This art earns the kiln master a spot of prestige amongst colleagues, customers, and artists for many reasons.
While the concept of designing each piece of art comes from within the artist themselves, the real skill lies in the kiln master's ability to turn it into a work of engaging art. It can simply involve two pieces of glass melted together, but when they're able to expertly combine shards of glass with the ability to foresee the forged results as having the capability to evoke emotions and stir interest, that's where the true skill lies.
Artists worldwide will tell you that a craftsman who has mastered the art has truly earned a spot of high esteem within the fused glass art community. People showcasing this art in the form of jewelry or house decor have the ability to present this art to others, emphasizing their own appreciation for true works of art. The prestige of the glass artist themselves is brought into the lives of those who don't work with a kiln, and the result is one's ability to showcase their keen eye for truly masterful pieces of work and love of beauty.
Fused glass has earned its place of prestige among master glass artists. New techniques, novel color combinations, and the fact that no single piece can ever be exactly recreated makes every product an engaging and beautiful anomaly in and of itself.

Ancient Finds

Expert Author Kenneth McCormickWe just keep finding more and more strange things that existed in ancient times. Sometimes I have to wonder if something was going on in those days which we know nothing about. If you are wondering about what I am talking about let me give you an example. A city was discovered named Makhunik which was home to a race of ancient dwarfs. The city was found in Shahdad, Kerman province in Iran. It was previously believed nothing could have lived in this desert area until 1946, but that belief changed as pieces of pottery were being found in the area. When excavations were started in the late 1940s, archaeologists began to discover other things such as copper furnaces, brass and pottery. Then it happened, a cemetery was discovered with over 800 graves. The graves were empty, because the bodies had decomposed and the minerals in the ground had decomposed the bones. The buildings were dwarf size and it has been said only they could have used many of the things in the city, because of their height. Some scientists are convinced the city was inhabited by a race of dwarfs, but not all of them. Others claim it is only a legend and try to explain away the size of some things by saying they are decayed down to the height they are at and were originally higher. This seems a little farfetched for some of the items found, but so does a city of dwarfs to some.
Marden Henge in England is ten times as large as Stone Henge. Some say it will become the greatest tourist attraction in the country and may have clues as to why and who constructed Stone Henge and Avebury Henge. A three year excavation project has been started at Marden Henge. The head archaeologist stated the area is practically untouched. He thinks this will lead to a much greater understanding of the Henges. It is believed that both Stone Henge and Marden Henge were constructed about the same time, around 2,400 B.C. I have to wonder about this. Can you imagine how many people would have been needed for the construction of both Henges and maybe even a third? The population then was a lot smaller than it is today. The question has been asked if the three Henges were being built in competition with each other or were being used by the same people? The area where Marden Henge is located is also the site of many small Roman settlements. There seems to be a second Henge within the Marden Henge. A building dating back to 4,500 B.C. has also been uncovered in the area.
How many times have we heard humans did not mate with Neanderthals? Then we heard there was a slight amount of Neanderthal DNA found in at least some humans. Ancient human remains were found in Romania which showed they had about 9% Neanderthal DNA. This was a surprise since it is the most Neanderthal DNA ever found in a human body. Scientists area telling us humans have somewhere between 2 to 4% Neanderthal DNA. There have been many thoughts on why Neanderthals disappeared. They disappeared 28,000 years ago. The latest news about them is they may have bred a lot with humans and eventually disappeared because of this, not because modern humans hunted them or outsmarted them thus getting all the food as some scientists had previously suggested. Ironically the Neanderthal genes may have made us tougher and enabled the modern human race to survive. Scientists now believe as we get more proficient at examining our DNA we may discover other human ancestors.
Scientists are saying they have discovered the oldest prehistoric town in Europe. It is believed the population was about 400 people and the town dated back to between 4,700 and 4,200 B.C. To try and give you a picture of how far back this is in European history, it is at least 1,500 years before Greece. The town was fortified. This just proves there were still raids and wars that far back. It is believed the town was part of a salt mining complex. Salt was very important in those days since there was no other way to protect and preserve food. Salt was very valuable and had to be protected. Archaeologists have found a two-story house, pits, a partial gate and structures meant to protect the people and the salt. The archaeologists were surprised by the competence of the walls, because of the time in history when they were built. They were unusually strong. Walls like this have never been found in European prehistoric sites before.
Scientists believe they have found evidence showing the earth was hit by a meteorite storm about 12,000 years ago. They believe it killed a lot of prehistoric people and possibly the Wooly Mammoth. No it was not because they were hit with meteorites, it was the cold which was triggered by the storm that did this. The reason scientists believe this is they have found a certain type of glass on two continents known as melt glass which forms at temperatures between 7,700 and 2,200 degrees Celsius and can result from something hitting the earth. The material was found in thin layers in North America and Syria. When the material was tested, it was found not to be volcanic. Melt glass has been found before in meteor craters. It was also found when we tested the atomic bomb in New Mexico. This cold period is known as the Younger Dryas.
A carving has been found on the side of an ancient Egyptian Quarry. Scientists think the drawing might be about 3,000 years old. It depicts the pharaoh bowing to the god of gods. The pharaoh is making offerings to the gods Amun-Ra and Thoth. Time has ravaged the carving along with two inscriptions which were found nearby, making them hard to decipher. Other sites are also being studied and they date back to an incredible 8,500 years or later. When we think of the age of the United States and then thinks about the age of Egypt, it has to blow our minds. The ancient workers at this quarry had an advanced skill set for cutting rock perfectly. The way they moved much of it is still a mystery to us although there are many guesses on the subject.
I would like to finish this article by talking about the fact we have found sites with huge advanced structures all over the world. One of the problems we have is they are far older than the experts say we had the ability to construct them. They don't fit into what we have been told about our history. Hopefully we will learn the truth about our history someday.

The Dragon Mythology and Why the Tattoos Are So Poplar in the East

Dragon Mythology
No one knows precisely when human beings started applying body tattoos, but all historical evidence show that this form of art is almost as old as human civilization. Historians have also proposed that it is one of the earliest forms of art. If you think of tattoos, then one of the pictures that come to your mind is probably a dragon tattoo. Despite being very attractive, this tattoo is also one of the most widespread as it can be found in most cultures from East to West.
To understand why these tattoos are so popular, it would be significant first to comprehend the mythology behind the creature that forms the subject of this tattoo. A dragon has many definitions, but the Standard English dictionary defines it as a giant mythical and scaly serpent that usually has a crested head and also giant claws.
The dragon is represented differently in different cultures for example in the west it is described as a giant winged reptile that breathes fire. There are many mythical creatures across different cultures but very few if at all any can be found in as many cultures as the dragoon.
In the various cultures that the dragon can be found there is always a different perception of this creature. In the West, the Dragon is viewed as an evil or merciless being that brings destruction to mankind by burning homesteads and taking away livestock. It is also known to have a massive treasure hoard and people are always trying to find a way to steal the treasure from the dragon, but the dragon protects its hoard with all its might. However, in some cases the dragon is also perceived as benevolent and protective in the west. This dragons protected mankind from other mythical creatures and were also used in battles.
In the East, the dragon is viewed differently as it is not considered to be as evil as people in the West believe it to be. In the Eastern cultures, the dragon is perceived as a benevolent creature that aims at protecting mankind sing its supernatural powers. The eastern dragon is also quite different from the western dragon that adopts a primitive lizard look. The Eastern Dragon is a giant serpent-like creature with a long body and two sets of legs. In the East, dragons can be found in the Korean, Japanese and Chinese cultures. The oldest dragons in the East come from the Chinese culture, and they are most linked to religion. Buddhist temples are adorned with dragons in both carvings and paintings to show the special place they hold in this religion.
Legends behind dragon tattoos
Of all the dragon tattoos that you can have few if at all if any are as legendary as Chinese dragons. The ancient Chinese dragons are said symbolize cosmic energy and are a symbol of good fortune. Most people have these tattoos because they believe that it will bring them luck and make life better for them. Besides from this legend has it that dragons have an array of good qualities that will benefit your life. For example, they lead to infinite success, high achievements in life and prosperity beyond your wildest imaginations.
There are many legends surrounding these tattoos, but the Nine Dragons Legend is perhaps the most well known one. This is probably also the reason the nine dragon tattoo is very popular. The legend comes from the name given to the mainland overlooking Hong Kong; Kowloon. This area was named by a Chinese Emperor, who named it after the eight predominant hills in the area. After the emperor was forced to go into exile one of his loyal servants, so it was befitting to count the emperor among the regal figures in the area and hence the name Kowloon which means nine dragons was born.
Each one the nine dragons represent a particular characteristic and so if you have the tattoo you will benefit from the advantage that it brings. For example, the P'u-lao serves as a protector and will alert you to any impending danger. The Pa-hsia, on the other hand, is the provider of the strength. By having any of the nine dragons you will enjoy the powers of that specific dragon according to legend.
What makes these tattoos so popular in the East?
These tattoos are famous across the world but in the East they seem to hold a very special place. In fact when a person goes to get a tattoo the chances are that he or she is most likely to request for a dragon tattoo is they do not already have one. The main reason behind this is that culture and beliefs are more important in the East compared to the West.
Although there is no physical evidence of the existence of dragons in real life they are depicted as wise powerful and free creatures, and this also acts as an inspiration for people to have their tattoos. Stories of dragons have been passed down in Easter cultures for generations. These stories create a fascination with the younger generation, and this is what drives them to get these tattoos.
Unlike in the west where dragons are merciless creatures in the East they adapt the opposite characteristics with protection being one of the main things that they promise to offer human beings. Instead of getting any other tattoos most people will prefer to go for these tattoos that will also provide them protection against various types of dangers.
Dragon images look great on the skin compared to many other tattoos and so this is also one of the reasons that make it so popular in the east. Due to the nature and appearance of this tattoo it will look well on any skin regardless of its color and complexion. Over the years, tattoo artists have perfected the dragon image, and so you are likely to get a perfect tattoo when you have it.
This is normally very massive which gives it more appeal for people in the East who mostly do not like having very many tattoos on their body like in the West. Instead of drawing many tattoos on your body the dragon tattoo makes it possible to have one that covers a large area in your body.
